Join Miss Allison every week from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. for a musical playground. Your child will interact with different musical instruments and even learn a new song or rhyme during this drop-in program. Registration not required to attend.

Free Comic Book Day

Superheroes are coming! Join the Library for Free Comic Book Day, a nationwide event held the first Saturday in May each year where participating comic book shops and libraries around the world give away comic books absolutely FREE. Limit three comic books per person, while supplies last.

Join us every Tuesday for LEGO building fun! We’ll provide our extensive collection of bricks and elements, while you provide the imagination! Come up with your own building ideas or use our weekly theme to inspire you. After you are done building, we’ll feature some of the awesome LEGO creations on our Instagram page! No registration is required to attend, but space is limited.

Summer Reading with Adele

AGES: Kindergarten and older

Kids are invited to practice their reading skills with Adele and Ms. Penny! Adele, a friendly, trained therapy dog is at the once a month to help reluctant readers gain confidence and improve their reading skills with her patient, nonjudgmental, and furry nature. Registration is not required, but space is limited to 20 minutes per reader. Spots are available on a first-come, first-served basis.





Park Play

Sunset Park | ALL AGES

Children of all ages are invited to join us Fridays in July for Park Play, the Library’s outdoor playgroup. The Library will be at Sunset Park for an hour of outdoor play to socialize with other parents and caregivers while your child enjoys sunshine, fresh air, as well as active, manipulative, and sensory play. NOTE: Park Play will be relocated to the Library’s meeting room in inclement weather.


Summer Reading 2019 @ BCPL

Read Wildly!

Readers of all ages are invited to join the Library’s annual summer reading program! Registration for Summer Reading begins on Saturday, June 8 at our Summer Reading Kick Off event!

Once readers are signed up, they will receive a reading log and a “Read Wildly” sticker! Complete the log to earn a prize and a chance in the grand prize drawing!

The last day to turn in your summer reading log is July 31. For more information, stop by the Youth Services Desk or the Adult Services Desk!

Pet Supply Donation Drive
Saturday, June 8 – Saturday, August 3

All summer long, bring toys, food, and bedding – any supplies an adorable pet might need to the Library and earn extra tickets for our Grand Prize Drawings! Every item donated will earn your child an extra ticket. Only new, unopened items will be accepted, no expired food or used items will be accepted. Supplies will be donated to two local rescue shelters: DuPage Animal Friends and New Start Dog Rescue of Illinois.


Toddler Tales

AGES: 6 months — 2 years old

Toddler Tales is our introduction to early learning! Join Ms. Kyrie as she shares her favorite books, rhymes, movement activities, and a simple craft. Space is limited, and toddlers will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.

Korthauer Open House

March 10 | April 14 | June 9 | July 14 | August 11

Take a trip back in time at our Korthauer Open House! Join local historian Janis Arquette every second Sunday of the month from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. at the Korthauer Log House for an exploration into local history. The Log House is located at 900 W. Wood Street in Bensenville, and parking is available at the Library. Please note: The Log House will not be open the second Sunday in May.

Please consider joining the Library for a day of projects around the Korthauer Log House. The Log House is one of DuPage County’s oldest homestead and a part of Bensenville’s living history. There is work to be done to help to keep the cabin in good working condition for all to enjoy. No registration required to attend, and lunch with be provided.



ARTsy Smartsy

Mondays at 10:30 a.m.
March 5—May 28
AGES: 2 to 5 years old

Children can join Miss Kyrie for an hour of painting, drawing, and creating! We provide the supplies and you bring the imagination. Participants are encouraged to wear clothing they won’t mind getting messy. Registration is not required to attend, but space is limited. Spots are available on a rotating basis. Stop by the Youth Desk the day of the class for more information.
